Insomnia

I haven't been able to sleep in I do not know how long. Every night, I just get few hours of sleep. I've had trouble sleeping my entire life but lately it has gotten crazy bad. Now I've even started to put my phone and computer in another room when I go to bed to see if that helps. Does it? No! There is no difference. So after talking to Julia, who also has trouble sleeping, I figured that maybe I am suffering from insomnia. When I got home today, I was so tired, I thought YES, maybe I will get some sleep tonight, so I lay down and fall alseep at once. This was around 7pm. After about an hour my phone rings, I press ignore. Then it rings again and again and again. I get out of bed seeing red from my pissed off mood, answering my grandmothers call, hung up, went back to bed and now its about 1.30 and I haven't been able to fall alseep since. Great! This is how it has been for way too long. I can't sleep and when I do, I wake up constantly during the night, my appetite has shrunk, I have a headache 24/7 etc... Millions of people suffer from it around the world. There are three different kinds of insomnia.

  • Transient insomnia - occurs when symptoms lasts from a few days to some weeks.
  • Acute insomnia - also called short-term insomnia. Symptoms persist for several weeks.
  • Chronic insomnia - this type lasts for at least months, and sometimes years. According to the National Institutes of Health1, the majority of chronic insomnia cases are secondary, meaning they are side effects or symptoms of some other problem.

Insomnia is caused by a numerous different things such as:

Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Mediciation
Caffeine and alcohol
Medical conditions
Change in every day life
Heavy meals before bed time

How to cure it? Well I am not expert but from what I've read, sleeping pills, therapy, perscribed marijuana. Hmm... wonder which of these three will help me....?
