"Girls are the only people who can go out poor and come home drunk"

I'd promised Beatrice that we would go
Party in Brisbane one day before she goes back go Sweden and since it was her last Saturday here yesterday we decided to go then. Lucky for me I had my free ride there because the bus cards here gives a free bus ride around Queensland for one day after a certain amount has been used. So I got there for free, and when we got there, vouchers were being given out on the streets to get in for free to different clubs + free drinks. I only spent two dollars on one jelly shot and that was it. We went to 7 different clubs and met several different people. I had so much fun and we didn't come home until 9 this morning. We were beat though so we went to sleep for a few hours. Then tonight I've been to Annes place together with my roommates friend and we ended up swimming in the ocean. Now I'm laying on my sofa watching horror films with friends of my roommates, people I've never met before in my life but they are pretty cool so far haha.

Nairobi on Snapchat

Just the other day, Nairobi was on Snapchat. Since I love snapchat and I love Nairobi, so I had to watch it. I personally thought it was really cosy laying there in bed looking at my beautiful city that I love and miss so much <3 But a bunch of friends blew up on Facebook over it. People said they made Nairobi look lame and so on (although I disagree). Then some of my friends posted up tweets and statuses from random people, who wrote the weirdest things haha. They wrote about how Kenya is really poor, and how they don't understand how people can afford phones there. Some people are so close minded it is hilarious! I honestly can't comprehend some of the ignorance in comments like these, like how do people sleep at night knowing they've judged an entire city/country/continent that way?

LOL that comment! People have no idea how amazing Kenya is!

Sick, sick, sick and sick

I woke up yesterday morning feeling really lousy. My head was heavy, my noise was runny, my throat was itchy and so forth. It's the first time since I got here that I've been really sick. Since I had a presentation this morning at 8 and meeting my group at 7, I decided to stay home yesterday to get better. But I did NOT sleep well last night so when I woke up at 6, I still felt like shit. Grumpy and feeling like I'm about to die, I go to UNI to work on my presentation WHICH I THEN DIDNT EVEN HAVE! Ahhhh!!! So I went home and now I'm in bed. Which really sucks because the weather is beautiful !

Vegemite

I'm becoming way too Australian! I have found a new love in vegemite!! I've tried it once before and I thought it was really weird and funky and hadn't deared to try it again until yesterday, my new roommate made me a mozzarella cheese and vegemite toast for breakfast. The first bite was all wtf is this?! But as I ate more and more it just got better and better. When I woke up this morning I was craving another vegemite toast and now waiting on the bus, my mind keeps going back to the sour funky taste of the beautiful invention. So the question is, am I becoming too local?

Caloundra

All week I've been waking up between 7-8 because of studies at the university so yesterday morning I automatically woke up at 8 even though I had nothing going on in the morning. But Bea and I have been keep to walk in some mountains for a while so I thought it would be a good idea to go then, so I took my chances of her killing me from tiredness and woke her up. She wasn't too grumpy though which was good. We got ready for the mountains, packed lunch and wore appropriate clothes but stupid us, didn't look at the bus times for Saturday so we waited for the bus for a really long time. We then thought that we could take the bus to Maroochydore and get a bus from there to the mountains, but when we got to Maroochydore, the right bus wasn't there either and wouldn't be there for another 5 hours. I then got the idea to jump on the next bus to come and just get off wherever we felt like it, and thats exactly what we did. We took the 600 bus and rode it for about 45 minutes- an hour and got off in a town called Caloundra.
The second I got of the bus I got the "we're not in Kansas anymore" feeling. It had a beautiful beach, I'll give it that much but the town was by far the most redneck place I've ever come across. It felt like we were in Texas during the 60's and people were staring at us like we aliens. We walked around this town until our legs hurt us. The things we saw and people we met is still hard to process. The feeling of coming home afterwards though was amazing. Bea and I then went to Taps, our favourite bar and had a beer. When we got home, we asked Dom, our new roommate if he wanted to hang out so we played drinking games, talked and got to know each other, the coolest dude! We then took him with us to a party at our German friend, Marius place and a while later our other new roommate/Dom's little brother Layton joined us. The night ended with a few more drinks at Helene and Timothy's place. A very strange, long but good and cosy 24 hours.

Scandic cafe

The stress lately has been overwhelming! There's been a lot in uni and our roommate dropped the bomb on us that he was moving out two days before he left. Money has been tight and the time to replace our old roommate. He's at least out now and we have already found two new roommates. Brothers, the sweetest guys ever. 16 and 20 years old. So last night we hung out with them and the 16 year old two friends. One of them was 14!! I have never felt so old in my life, ever! All my friends nowadays are between 25-35 so it was good with some change but they were really young, and it was easy forget that at times. But I had heaps fun anyway. During the day though Bea and I took the bus to maroochydore and went to the Scandinavian store/cafe. Ahhhh! Swedish candy!!! Heaven on earth! And we are totally going back there again to eat lunch. I can't wait! But for now the candy I bought has to be enough :)

Pizza night

Today Anne and her friend came over and we decided to make our own pizza. Since we got so much from Jennifer's fridge, we had a lot of ingredients. We made one ham pizza and one pepperoni. YUM it was too good! We made the pizzas, ate them obviously and had some fancy girl talk which was really nice. Some days we just need those relaxing days with the girls. We then also found out that our roommate is moving out in two days so now it's stress with finding new roomies, and since Bea is leaving as well in just a few weeks, I'd prefer to find two new roomies who don't mind sharing a room. Hopefully it won't take long until these life savers are found :) Now however I am going to go lay in my bed and watch a movie :) Night everyone <3

Beers and good company

I didn't mention this before but on Friday Bea and I had a BBQ with Linn and co. because Linn and Jennifer were leaving for Sweden in the morning. Linn will be back in about a month but Jennifer isn't so after hanging out until around 3am with them in their apartment, we still had energy to get up at 8am to wave them goodbye. We of course went to bed after they left. Jennifer however gave Bea and I permission to take what she left behind in her fridge so we went to Anne's, a german girl in the same apartment, place yesterday afternoon and stole some food, and met her new roomies. They invited us back later at night for some beers so after watching a movie with Bea and Anne, we went back. We played King cup or Ring of fire or whatever these crazy kids call it these days. It was heaps of fun and it involved a lot of laughing and a lot of different languages. The night ended later than intended but I still managed to get up at 9 for university. But because I was a little late, I had a friend of mine drive me so I would come in time. Awesome with a free ride to school, I should take more advantage of that! ;)
Right now I am sitting in the library waiting for some people that I'm doing a project with in one of my courses. The weather is depressing and I just want to cuddle down in bed but until then I just have to please myself with a chai latte instead.
The only photo's I have of this weekend are the ones I showed in my last post so for now, how about a selfie?

Guild party

What a day yesterday was. I woke up a six to get ready and got to uni at 8. I then sat from 8-6 with just a thirty minute lunch break writing an essay that i finally finished. And I'm not even happy with it :( when I got home I was exhausted! But Bea had made hamburgers for us which was really amazing so we ate dinner. Linn then came up and invited us over so we took our wine bottles and headed to her place where we drank with linn and Ann. After an hour or so we headed to uni because there was a party there. It was so much fun! Heaps of peeps and I realised last night that i know a lot more people here than I thought. The universities party bus came to pick people up later and drove us to the helm. But since there were several hundred people at the party I can imagine it had to drive several times. The helm was awesome as usual. Today I'm really exhausted though from yesterday and I think I'm getting sick :( boohoo!

Pitch Perfect 2

Yesterday I didn't have any courses to go to so I stayed home all day studying for 6 hours straight. I did however take a twenty minute break and went swimming in our pool. At night, my mind was so exhausted I couldn't even look at my computer anymore so I decided to join my girlfriends to the movies to watch Pitch Perfect 2. I do however feel like I cheated on my friend Saga because we saw the first one together and I've never had so much fun at the cinema like I did when we saw it in Kenya. But I couldn't resist. We were so many people last night that they didn't have place for all of us so we had to split up into two groups. One group went at eight o'clock and went with the others at 8.40. The movie was great, obviously, it's pitch perfect! But it wasn't as good as the first one but it made me happy and I've been wanting to sing ever since. I came home later in a good and jolly mood haha. I woke up early this morning however to study. For the next few weeks I have a lot of studying I have to do and it is stressing me out. All I can do though is my best. Right now I am sitting at uni, eating a Caesar pasta salad, writing an assignment, sounds fun huh? haha!

Fluorescent party

Last night Anne and linn came to our place for some pre drinks. Bea and I only had red wine which is not good for anyone so it went straight to our heads. We then to the bus to Alex headlands where a house party was going on. The theme was fluorescent paint so everyone was painted up and there were over 100 people there and just heaps of fun. Of course the police had to show up later and shut it down but it was totally worth it. Came home way too late anyway and have been exhausted today.

Salsa night

The past couple of days have been heavy and my mind keeps drifting back to one thing but it's suppose to be like that for now. I try keeping myself busy by meeting friends, cleaning the house and so on. And when I clean the house, then I must be really bored or really trying to find a distraction. Anyway, on Friday one of my German friends had a birthday party so I went there with Bea and julie. A lot of people went to the helm afterwards for once I decided to go home early instead. It was too soon. Then yesterday night there was a salsa party at a tapas bar. Bea and I has been sitting on the sofa all day eating pizza that I just needed to go out, i was going crazy just sitting down. So I met Daria and some other friends there. I joined them for a drink and tried to dance a bit salsa but it didn't go too well. We then went to Daria's place and watched hannah montana the movie haha. I later went home and watched Marley and me with Bea until our roommate showed up with haj whole crew at around 2am.

Treasured in my heart you'll stay, until we meet again some day

Yesterday I got the tragic news that my grandfather has passed, my farfar. He was 89 years old and it was his time. Even though its heavy for us, his family and friends, it's a relief knowing that he's no longer suffering. He suffered gratefully and left this world peacefully. Today and for the rest of eternity he's in a better place where his health is as young as his heart. He will forever live within us.

Vila i frid, farfar <3

California

I'm talking to Linnéa right about the United States and we got in on Hollywood. I am now thinking back to when I was there a few years ago. I was 16 years old and it was the first time I'd really saved up for something big, that had been a dream. I flew from Copenhagen and landed at LAX hours later. Andrea and the summer kids picked me up at the airport and it was great seeing them. I got to stay in their guest room and for the entire week I was there, Andrea was amazing. She took my to Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and all the beach places in California. We ate good food and went on a lot of adventures. Imarie who took care of me as a child in Singapore flew down to us for one night and it was the first time I'd seen her in 8 years which is also a moment I will forever cherish and remember forever. Our time together was short, but precious. I also got to spent halloween there, a true American halloween which was sweet! I would love to go back there again and then I am also going to see Neverland which I wasn't ready to see back then but totally am now. So when I'm done with Australia, Fiji, Asia and all that, California and the rest of America will for sure be on my bucket list ;)

Long weekend

So it's Monday... and I feel like it hasn't been Monday in a really long time. Or any other weekday for that matter because the weekend was really, really long!! On Thursday my friends Julie and co had a party at their place so Bea, Linn, Ann and I went there together and then everyone went out. Really fun night out with a lot of dancing and laughing. On Friday the weather was horrible so for the first time since I moved here, I had an entire day in bed watching movies with my silly goose Bea. For some reason Bea and I ended up pulling an all nighter and we watched all kinds of movies such as 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', 'The Experiment' and heaps of episodes of the Swedish series 'Solsidan'. When we both fell asleep the sun had already come up. The plan was that the two of us were going to go hiking on Saturday but because of the lack of sleep we've decided to do that another day. The weather was better on Saturday so I went for a long walk during the day, then at night it was time to party once again. Some people we know from our apartment had a little get together by the BBQ area at our building so we went there, some of our German friends were there and more people kept coming all the time so by one point we were heaps of peeps. We played Beer Pong and I rocked the table, no one could beat me! It was awesome!! A couple of people left for Maroochydore after a while to go to a nightclub there but I decided to go with the German people to The Helm instead. Once again, the night was filled with a lot of dancing, drinking and laughing. The night ended with kebabs before crashing.
