Caloundra

All week I've been waking up between 7-8 because of studies at the university so yesterday morning I automatically woke up at 8 even though I had nothing going on in the morning. But Bea and I have been keep to walk in some mountains for a while so I thought it would be a good idea to go then, so I took my chances of her killing me from tiredness and woke her up. She wasn't too grumpy though which was good. We got ready for the mountains, packed lunch and wore appropriate clothes but stupid us, didn't look at the bus times for Saturday so we waited for the bus for a really long time. We then thought that we could take the bus to Maroochydore and get a bus from there to the mountains, but when we got to Maroochydore, the right bus wasn't there either and wouldn't be there for another 5 hours. I then got the idea to jump on the next bus to come and just get off wherever we felt like it, and thats exactly what we did. We took the 600 bus and rode it for about 45 minutes- an hour and got off in a town called Caloundra.
The second I got of the bus I got the "we're not in Kansas anymore" feeling. It had a beautiful beach, I'll give it that much but the town was by far the most redneck place I've ever come across. It felt like we were in Texas during the 60's and people were staring at us like we aliens. We walked around this town until our legs hurt us. The things we saw and people we met is still hard to process. The feeling of coming home afterwards though was amazing. Bea and I then went to Taps, our favourite bar and had a beer. When we got home, we asked Dom, our new roommate if he wanted to hang out so we played drinking games, talked and got to know each other, the coolest dude! We then took him with us to a party at our German friend, Marius place and a while later our other new roommate/Dom's little brother Layton joined us. The night ended with a few more drinks at Helene and Timothy's place. A very strange, long but good and cosy 24 hours.
