Buffy vs. Vampire Diaries

Remember when I did the post about Friends vs How I Met Your Mother? Well I thought I would do that again only this time about Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs The Vampire Diaries. Most people relate The Vampire Diaries with Twilight but thats because most people my age haven't seen Buffy. It is so obvious that all their ideas are inspired by Buffy. Even the characters, mysterious Angel who walks around in a leather coat and broods is not very different from Stefan. Spike is British and jokes around all the time but he is still very similar to Damon. I recently started watching Vampire Diaries and I am now in the middle of Season 3 and I just love it! Buuuuuuut, Buffy is one of my favorite shows. It on the top right next to Friends so Vampire Diaries will never take its place. But they both really are amazing shows.

Similarities

1. Two vampires (Angel and Spike, Stefan and Damon) fighting over a girl (Buffy, Elena). One good vampire who survives on animal blood and one bad vampire who drinks human blood

2. The good vampire becomes "evil" for a while

3. The best friend (Willow, Bonnie) is a witch

4. Vampires burn to death if they walk in the sun, however they can wear a ring that protects them when they are in the sun

5. A vampire can't come into a home without being invited by the owner of the house

6. The only way to murder a vampire is to stab them through the heart with a wooden stake
7. Both Buffy and Elena have an older man, a teacher (Giles, Alaric) looking out for them. Like he were a father

8. The girl (Buffy, Elena) has a special power that nobody else has

Differences

1. In Buffy the two vampires who are fighting over her are immortal enemies who once used to stand on the same side. In Vampire Diaries, they are brothers and love each other deeply, always!

2. Angel becomes evil because he looses his soul. Stefan becomes evil because he looses his humanity

3. Willow had to train herself to become a witch. It was in Bonnies blood and every woman in her family was a witch

4. In Buffy, the is only one ring in the entire world that provokes vampires from burning in the sun. In Vampire Diaries, it seems like every vampire has one

5. In Buffy there are ways to "uninvite" a vampire into a house. I haven't seen that happening so far in Vampire Diaries

6. In Buffy, once they get stabbed and die, they turn into ash. In Vampire Diaries, they become a corpse
7. Giles was a librarian and had been searching for Buffy, he became her watcher. Alaric was a history teacher and found Elena along the way while he tried to slay vampires

8. Buffy's power is that she the vampire slayer of her generation. Elena is the doublegänger of the brothers long lost love, Kathrine
