The movie is about how different people end up in human trafficking in different ways. One girl, 16 years old, heard about a model agency, where girls could go to take their pictures taken and whoever takes the best ones, get to go to New York to become models. Except that when they do come to New York, they don't become models, because the "model agency" was actually a trafficking business. Another girl, around 22 years old maybe, from Prague who is a single mother to her young daughter started dating a man who charmed her and took her to the best restuarants in town. One day he bought a ticket for her to go to Vienna, he told her it was going to be a romantic weekend away for just the two of them. Only when they got there, it turned out that her "boyfriend" worked for the same trafficking business, and she was raped and hurt instantly by some of the other workers there. Another girl, around 12 years old, was on vacation with her parents in the Philippines, when they were out shopping at a street market when a tuctuc drove by and dragged her in. She ended up at a "hotel" for men who paid to have sex with children, and she was one of those children.
God it is just so sick it makes me mad. It is one thing to go to a brothel, which is also one of the sickest things a person could do, but to actually owe one and force innocent girls to work at one is just horrific, I have no words. Imagine being just a normal girl trying to get by like everyone else and one little mistake, being at the wrong place at wrong time, trusting the wrong person, can get you bought and sold to others who are hardly human. It is just so wrong on so many levels. Nobody has the right to control a person that way, no one and nobody deserves to be treated like a piece of meat.
Did you know:
- That every 30 seconds, someone in the world, gets bought and sold to be a sex slave
- That there are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today
- The average age of a sex slave is 12-14 years old
- Human trafficking is the third largest international crime industry. Drugs and arms trafficking are the first two
The world isn't suppose to be like this. The creepiest part is that most people who buy sex slaves, are the people who seem fairly normal otherwise, people with friends and family. It could be your neighbor, your family member, your best friend, and you don't even know. Horrible and absolutly disgusting!
