When I find that love for a show, I don't just watch it one time and never again. I watch it over and over and over and it never gets old. This past week, I've watched the 6th season of Buffy. It is one of my favorite seasons because it is when Spike and Buffy get together, the emotions get most intense and the episodes are the craziest. Last night I finished season 6 for the millionth time and every time the ending surprises me. Not because I don't know what will happen, but the feelings and the emotions. That is why it is so good this show, because even though it is about a girl who fights vampires and demons, it couldn't be more realistic. The way they feel and act, it is almost as if I can feel their emotions. The last episode of season 6 is one of those episodes that just blows one away. Basically what happens is that Willow (one of the main characters) gets her girlfriend, Tara, back after Tara realized that Willow has given up magic after getting addicted. They spend an entire day together in bed meanwhile Buffy and Xander (the other two main characters) are having a deep and emotional conversation in the garden when Warren (the enemy) comes with a gun to shoot Buffy but he misses and shoots through the window where Willow and Tara are. He however shoots Tara through the heart and kills her instantly. Willow breaks down and basically what happens is that every evil that exists within witchcraft, gets attached to her pain and Willow turns "evil". Willow goes after Warren and his gang but only manages to kill one of them since Buffy and the rest of her gang our out trying to stop their best friend from ruining her life. Willows evilness takes away all her sympathy and love so she had no problem with hurting them, hurting them so bad in fact that she even tried killing Dawn (Buffy's younger sister). When Willow realizes that she will never find Warrens gang, she decided to destroy the world using just a statue and her power. Buffy and Dawn get trapped, Giles (The father figure of Buffy) collapse and is near his death, Anya (an ex demon who is now apart of Buffy's gang) is too afraid to leave his side. The only one who is free is Xander, the only human with no power whatsoever and Willows eldest friend. He gets to Willow in time while she is already trying to ruin the world. Somehow Xander manages to say things to her that makes Willows heart shine a little more. She throws magic at Xander so he falls over again and again, but he doesn't stop, he keeps getting up, taking a step closer to her and tells her he loves her. Eventually Willows good heart comes through enough and she no longer has the strength to bring Xander down with her power. When he is close enough to her, she starts hitting him but even that doesn't stop him from putting his arms around her and Willows power disapears completely and she breaks down in his arms.
That scene is so powerful and amazing that I get chills from just thinking about it. It proves pain, loss and true friendship. This is only one of many amazing scenes in this show. There are lots of times when I get the chills in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When Buffy has to kill Angel (the love of her life), when Buffy finds her mother dead in their house, when Spike (the "evil" vampire who is in love with Buffy and she has forbidden feelings for him too) tries to hurt Buffy in the bathroom, or when a demon turns the world into a musical and Buffy admits that she was in heaven not in hell. This all seems sad and depressing, but it is powerful and the show actually has a lot of humour too. I love it and I just love it more and more every time I watch it. So I recommend everyone out there, watch it! It is beautiful and amazing.
